Wolfgang’s Steakhouse Philippines

I love Steak! Especially, if it is perfectly cooked, tender, juicy and of course delicious. So, I got giddy when Wolfgang’s Steakhouse will be opening its first branch in the country at Newport Mall at Resorts World Manila.

Rated as one of the best Steakhouse in New York with nine branches across the United States, three in Japan and one in Seoul. And now, they are here in Manila.

The Original Wolfgang’s Steakhouse started in the dining room of a landmark building formally known as the Vanderbilt Hotel which was built in 1912. The steakhouse is named after Wolfgang Zweiner, who opened his eponymous restaurant after having worked as a head waiter at the legendary Peter Luger’s Steakhouse in  New York for more than 40 years.

In keeping with Wolfgang’s esteemed tradition, the Manila outlet will incorporate the same design elements of the original location, such as a long, mahogany solid wood bar, wooden planked floors, wood wainscoting, alabaster chandelier and curved ceilings with tile borders.

The restaurant offers strictly USDA Prime beef which is dry aged in its own proprietary designed aging room under a controlled temperature and humidity environment for an average of 28 days. Its a process which enhances tenderness and flavour in beef.

Starting of our lunch with some Wolfgang Salad. It has mixed greens, string beans, tomatoes, bacon, shrimp and their homemade dressing. This was so good.

Then we had Wolfgang’s Crab Cake. A fishcake that is popular in the United States. It has crab meat, bread  crumbs, seasonings and other various ingredients.

Now, the star of the  table…The Porterhouse! A USDA Prime, dry-aged (in their own aging box) beef that is amazingly good. When I bite into it, party in my mouth. Its so tender, flavourful and melt in your mouth goodness.

We had side dishes too. The creamed, sautéed  or steamed Spinach is a must try. It is perfectly cooked as if there is cream on it but trust me there is none, absolutely good!

Ofcourse, the steak is perfect with their Steak Rice…nuff said, Yum!

It really goes well with their wine. Paired it with their Php 300k Petrous Bordeaux wine, perfect!

And capping off a delightful meal, Wolfgang’s Assortment of Cakes: Keylime Pie, Pecan Pie, New York Cheesecake, Tiramisu, Schlag and Chocolate Mousse Cake. Honestly, everything was bizarrely good!

Also on the menu are excellent entree selections such as veal, lamb, king salmon, sushi grade tuna, three-pound lobsters and more. Those whom love seafood can also delight in simple but scrumptious array of seafood, including jumbo lobsters, grilled yellow fin tuna, salmon or swordfish.

Wolfgang’s lineup of starters such as shrimp and lobster cocktails, fresh oysters on the half shell, thick, sizzling bacon, and crisp, fresh salads are perfect prelude to any main course, don’t forget to add sides too when you order your steak.

The restaurant is also recognised for its highly-acclaimed and award winning winer cellar with its diverse selection of over 1,200 fine wines from around the world. By the way, the wine in the photo costs Php 500K!

Peter is optimistic about the restaurant’s foray in the Philippine market. He says, “The Philippines is a high growth and vibrant market when  it comes to the culinary scene, and I believe that Wolfgang’s Steakhouse will be a great addition to the Manila dining scene. We are extremely excited to introduce our USDA prime dry aged beef concept to the market.”

Though not conclusive yet, he also hinted at the possibility of adding more outlets in Manila. Peter adds, “We would love to open another outlets here soon. I really do like the Makati and Bonifacio Global City area. Time will tell.” He also disclosed the brand’s global future expansion plans. He elaborates. “Over the next 12 months, we will be opening  additional locations in Asia, which include Fukuoka, Japan  (March 2016), Singapore (December 2016), and we are currently looking to expand further Asia (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand), Latin America (Mexico, Panama and Brazil) and Europe (Germany, Switzerland and UK) in 2016 and 2017.”
