Bruce Lim’s Rustique Kitchen

Bruce Lim’s Rustique Kitchen. Restaurant. | Bruschetta with Foie Gras and Jam. Sizzling Oxtail Kare-Kare & Tripe Salad. Tortang Talong. Signature Buko Pie. Thirst Quencher & Minty Guava. | Old+New+Signature dishes = Delightful & Comforting. The Bruschetta is a crispy bread topped with mango jam, seared foie gras & alfalfa sprouts. This one is good. The mango jam add a sweet, tart & refreshing taste. The foie gras is a bit oily but its rich, buttery, delicate & really melts in your mouth. The alfalfa sprouts add a mild earthy taste. The Sizzling Oxtail Kare-Kare (stewed oxtail) is simmered in peanut sauce served on hot plate with Tripe Salad & fried rice cakes. It is served sizzling hot & amazingly good. The oxtail is perfectly cooked. The peanut sauce is rich, peanutty & delicious. To make it more flavorful with a twist, add some Tripe salad (strips of tripe tossed in shrimp paste) which serves as the condiment. Tortang Talong (Eggplant Omelette) a classic comfort food reinvented. Sauteed pork with egg & topped with salted eggs. The eggplant add a meaty texture plus the pork & really goes well with the salted egg. Then add some caramelized onion…sweet, salty & meaty. For sweet endings, Signature Buko Pie. A warm buko pie served in a glass another unique & frisky twist. It has sugar crust, coconut meat, juice & milk topped with coconut sugar (everything is coconut). It has the consistency of guinataan. Its rich & not too sweet. We ordered Mocktails as well. The Thirst Quencher has Cucumber, Honeydew & Ginger syrup. The Minty Guava has Pink Guava, Pineapple, Ginger syrup & Mint leaves. Both drinks are good. Its alcohol free, refreshing & delightful. | As you enter the resto, you’ll be reminded of a traditional living room which has a richly appealing interior but has a casual & homey vibe. Rustique kitchen offers good comforting food & surprisingly affordable price. Chef Bruce Lim is back with his old & new dishes that is something familiar but with a frolicsome twist. | Located at Leelin Building II, 820 Arnaiz Ave. (Formerly Pasay Road), Makati City.
