Say Cheese: Tokyo Tokyo’s Cheesy Beef Donburi Is Here!

Tokyo Tokyo, known for it’s innovation and modernisation of Japanese dishes, introduces something new in its Donburi line. I’m sure cheese lovers would like to add this in their bucket list. Gather your foodie buddies because the new cheese craze is here! Tokyo Tokyo just launched their Cheesy Beef Donburi. Here’s what’s in store for you, your typical Donburi bowl is now topped with the Savory Beef Yakiniku (it’s premium beef), drizzled with a creamy spicy cheese sauce, and topped with crispy tempura onion rings, onion leeks, and black sesame seeds.

Your Beef Donburi Has Gotten Cheesy

When I heard about this new cheese craze, I made sure I had one. I was curious with the new additions so I tried the creamy spicy cheese sauce first. I liked the mixture of the sauce. Tokyo Tokyo made sure the creaminess doesn’t overpower the spiciness and vise versa. I tried the crispy tempura onion rings next and I like how the onion tempura stayed crispy despite being topped on the creamy cheese. Before I get carried away, I’d like to experience the meal fully too! This time, I made sure I get a little bit of everything in my spoon. Wow! The flavor of the beef comes out naturally with the cheese sauce adding flavor. The onion tempura, rice, black sesame seeds and onion leeks made sure it doesn’t get too creamy or cheesy that you get fed up in a couple of bites.

It’s a good deal for P155 for an ala carte order, P195  with a drink and P255 if you want to add sides and drinks. If you don’t know yet, Donburi bowls are not eligible for unlimited rice, they’re for average eaters. However, the Cheesy Beef Donburi makes you full because of all the components especially the creamy spicy cheese. Donburi bowls have more than enough rice – I’d say a cup and a half. The beef and its toppings are proportioned well with the rice. I felt full already before I finished my meal, but I find it so good, I had to eat the whole bowl. It’s totally worth the price.

Our Cheesy Verdict

I totally give this new Donburi bowl two thumbs up for the overall experience I had. The mixture of flavors the beef, cheese, and onion had been more than satisfying. I am one for Japanese food but this innovation compromising with the mainstream fit my taste and preference. For those who are looking for a new flavour in their beef Yakiniku, this is the way to go. Tick this cheese craze out of your food bucket list, it’s available now in Tokyo Tokyo stores nationwide. Let us know what you think.
